Marketing… It’s about You
SlideShare aside from providing the images from slide presentations allows sound. This was used beautifully by Mattanium in “The Future of Advertising”. The idea of bringing value to the person rather than creating noise is emphasized. He uses some great examples to back up these ideas. Emotion is necessary to connect used beautifully by this Ikea Lamp(used in the slide show)and the “Priceless” Mastercard commercials. This banned Mastercard commercial has “consumer buzz”, “brand promotion”, with humor.
If you’re interested in checking out what’s out there Matt threw out terms involving technology/ micro-media : YouTube, Facebook, Podcast, and Flickr is something that most people know of but he also mentioned… Utterz, Seesmic, Quik, 3Jam, Twitter, Linkedin, and SecondLife. I’ve been taking a looking into Seesmic and it seems that they are more focused on the people behind the YouTube videos. Put strategy first, NOT tactics is something to be aware of regarding Facebook and blogging. Having a Facebook group or MySpace page is a tactic, a way of achieving the strategy which might have been reaching the college student body.
Sometimes I hear things that seem to inspire and “The Future of Advertising” (along with SlideShow) has reminded me about blogging! Recently life has been a little busy, which is what I like but this spring break is bringing me back to my roots of curious inquiry. So I leave with an image to brighten your day…
